Joost Scribbles in't Stone

An elderly Yorkshire woman in a wheelchair, being pushed slowly around the British museum by her middle-aged son. They were parked in front of a large half-figure sculpture of a Mesopotamian king with luxuriant, crinkly, square-cut beard and typically stylised, almond eyes. After a while, the woman querulously remarked from her wheelchair, "'Ee! I don't mooch lahk the looks of 'er! She's none too friendly, by the looks!" Her son explained that it was, in fact, a man. "It never IS?!" she squawked. "Yes, it is", he replied, "look at the beard." ... "Oh, I thought them were joost scribbles in't' stone!"
