Alone Again (Unnaturally)

Strangely, such a teeming metropolis as London can sometimes surprise with sudden emptiness. Yesterday after leaving the National Portrait Gallery I wandered into Leicester Square, which I have only ever known as being chock-full of humanity. But it was empty, save for an elderly man shuffling in front of one of the cinemas and several greasy, moulting pigeons performing their mindless figure-eights on the neo-cobbles. I immediately thought of the film, 28 Days Later, and I looked nervously around me for any signs of 'reanimation'.

Still from Danny Boyle's, 28 Days Later.
