Sweet Tooth

Two old biddies sitting in a little cafe, drinking a pot of tea.
"I'm glad we aren't sitting over there, near the cakes", said one old duck, "Too much temptation."
"Oh", said the other, "Did I tell you about the other night at Bingo? Mary couldn't keep her eyes off the chocolate biscuits. I watched her ogling them from the moment they were placed on the table in front of her. She took two. I pretended not to notice. But then, she took a third! And after everyone else had had one, and there were none left, she wandered over to the other table, sat herself down, and had two more damned chocolate biscuits from the plate over there.... She had told everyone, earlier, that she didn't eat chocolate biscuits, as a rule, and I almost said: Well, you've certainly made up for it today, haven't you? But I kept my mouth shut, for once."
The first old biddy took all this in, sipped her earl grey tea and said, "I love a good Battenberg cake, myself."
